Pipeline Inspector Jobs

Anybody here know anything about these jobs? It's with a consulting company, and apparently I will have to go offshore for "a couple days at a time every now and then." A friend is in this field and his company is hiring. He also says the opportunity to move up to a project manager position should be within 3-5 years.

I've worked on several pipelines, and never seen an inspector sweat from anything but the heat.

Not really. But any input is appreciated.

A weld inspector, or a fitness for service engineer? I do the latter, the former would need certifications of a variety I'm not familiar with.

Do you have any welding experience? Any certifications? What do you do now?

Pipeline construction inspector is a damn good job, as long as you are fairly assertive and don't mind staying on the road most of the year and working in some pretty harsh conditions....
Pretty good money, though....I am paying an engineering firm around $1K per day for a contract inspector at work right now....

I don't have any welding experience. I think it's more along the lines of what spankum is talking about. You can give me your email if that doesn't matter.

Bump...
I know the OT is fascinated by the riots right now, but I've lurked for a while and seen a few oilfield threads with some good info.
