You have never worked as, or employed a professional musician.

One week of salaries for four musicians and two crew members (front of house engineer and tour manager) cost us $8794. That came out to $43,974 for the tour

This seems crazy high to me. On average $1,465 a week per band member thats 76,000 a year ( I know it only a month of work) but it seems there are plenty of musicians that would work for next to nothing.

I guess we also need to assume the tour manager was getting a much larger cut

This my isn't aome teenager garage band. They hired pro musicians. With that comes expectations of $/per diems. This isn't anythibg new.

I get what they are doing, and more power to them... I just associate indie with the DIY/Econo way of touring... I get that they don't have a label backing them, but they spent money like they did...
