Do any you Shreveporters remember the Cedar Grove Riots?

I was there. White girl wanted some dope. Black guy wanted her money with no dope in return. White girl shot black guy.
All hell broke loose. The Shreveport police chief ( white guy from Ohio) decided that black people just need to riot to let off steam. Business owners said 'WTF.'
Police chief was fired. Ah, those were the days.

I don't think so. But I recall she was kind of cute. Short, petite, country western, with an IQ of about 80.

Pretty sure the lady was convicted of manslaughter.. How much time she did..I've got no clue.. I was in middle school during that time and had a bunch of friends who got time off because the magnet school was in the middle of the Grove. Probably the first time I consciously watched the news on purpose
