Nice framing there. Yes, at one point he was running away, but he also assaulted a police officer at another point.

But let's not let that get in the way of framing a story of a boy who was shot while he was running away.

Teaching your children how to talk to authority will take them a long way? Look, I feel you 100 percent on the importance of upbringing, education, etc. I was told I acted white. Inevitably my son (who is now two) will one day try to sag his pants and I've already been dreaming of how I will address it (take away all of his pants and replace them with ones a size too small) I'm literally scheming about that one lol! My husband and I are educated. He's an attorney. I GET IT. However, sometimes that simply isn't enough. Did you hear Jordan Davis' mother speak? She's incredibly poised and articulate. Her son was murdered for playing music that his killer didn't like. My husband, an officer, a Jag, and a tulane grad and I have been stopped by the police. His mother taught him how to speak to cops so he could make it out of the situation alive BUT he shouldn't have been stopped in the first place. Sometimes you can do everything right like Amadou Diallo and still have your body riddled a hundred times (o think) with bullets.

That's why I can't really talk on the shooting. No one knows or will say the 100% truth. I do know that Wilson could have shot Brown just injure him or used a stun gun to handle the situation if he really felt threatened.

I've been profiled myself on more than one occasion in the past, but I handled it in an appropriate manner. Most of the cops that stopped me were cool and we ended up talking and joking with each other. I did come across some real assholes in BRPD, but I've always took the high road.

The poster implied that YOUR behavior is always the determining factor in an outcome. My point is that many outcomes are still screwed up even if YOU do everything right. Jordan Davis' murderer was convicted, finally, thank God.

And I agree with this. Just like people say that there are "thugs" and "animals" on the street, there are "thugs" and "animals" in police forces all around the United States. All I'm saying is that being a respectable person can prevent many situations. Don't give the cops a reason escalate the situation because all cops aren't the same and as you can see some have a quick trigger finger.

The point is that he was trying to escape the situation. What caused him to turn around?

Wasn't the officer shooting at him while was running away?

Here's a "what if" to ponder...
What would last night have been like, if officer Wilson had been a black man?
