Multiple people here spent the last few days telling me I was an idiot for saying this issue was divided right down party lines.
I just cannot fathom how some are so dense as to not see this is entirely political at this point.

I'll admit that I said that to you. I can also guarantee you that I never thought of it personally as political and I'm surprised that it was.
I still don't fully grasp why this is a left right issue though.

Wow, my children can grasp right away why this is a political issue. The left is going to fall on the side of any minority whether right or wrong on every issue, every time, in a quest for votes. Any confrontation will be cast as right vs minorities every single time regardless of facts. Pretty despicable but probably very effective at convincing lower intellect and poorly informed voters.
