Is there not a way to create a non-lethal gun that knocks people out?

I'm talking Star Trek style where you can shoot somebody and they are rendered unconscious within 1 second? Is there not a drug that can be delivered through a projectile that is capable of this?
Would be useful in questionable situations like the one where the 12 year old with the toy gun was shot, or for dealing with rioters.
eta: could also use them on dogs.

Yes there are ones that the military uses that make you vomit uncontrollably. I asked earlier why these weren't deployed.

And where do you propose that the unconscious people safely fall? That sounds like a pretty good way to cause people to fall and hit their heads, which can easily turn into a lethal situation.

They have rubber bullets that they'll occasionally use in riot situations. They can also be fatal. As to the comment about the kid with the toy gun, I don't know why it would be appropriate to fire them at someone who's told to put their hands up and reaches quickly for an object. That sounds like a good way to get officers killed.
