My dog loves it outside. She'll complain if she isnt outside. She knows when dinner is and when bed time is, and she comes and sits in front of the door waiting to be let it. Other than that she is outside somewhere.

One of the biggest benefits, to me, is knowing my dogs are gonna go apeshit if someone tries to break in. They would raise hell in the back yard too, but just imagining that "oh shite" look on a potential burglar's face when they see two pissed off 60lb dogs is all the justification I need. I have to be home to use a gun.

Why have a house if your going to stink it up with a animal.

Weekly baths, robotic vacuums, and a weekly cleaner eliminate this problem.

This. I can leave my wife at home alone and not worry a bit now. I've got a 170lb animal with one of the most intimidating barks I've ever heard. When he hears a noise outside he goes absolutely ape shite. I'd LOVE to see someone try to break in. I actually leave my back door unlocked just so some dumbass could try

One of my dogs stays out all day and in all night. She patrols from window to window. If something gets in the back yard, she'll go nuts wanting out. Her goal is nothing alive in the yard except her crew.

The dog stink covers up the smell of cigs.

Much rather that over a fricking cat. At least I can give my dog a bath every week. Anyone that puts a box full of shite in their own home is crazy to me. frick cats

It may. I would hope someone would tell us if our house stunk. Cleanings and strategically placed air fresheners seem to help. Maybe we are just stinky dog people.

Mine are the same way. I live near a fairly sketchy neighborhood, and a few months back one of my roomies left the front blinds open leaving the 60" TV in plain sight. While no one was home, someone kicked the front door in. Not a single thing was taken, and the door was slammed shut. Again, I love my guns, but a dog is the best home defense mechanism money can buy.

My two dogs are outside 24/7. They're beagles. I've got an insulated dog house with a heat lamp in a shed for the winter. They love it. It helps get the kids outside everyday too, so we can play with them. The tear up my yard…digging holes and what not. They love chasing squirrels and both of them teamed up on a possum a week or so ago. People can do what they want with their animals, but I think it's a shame to make a dog (anything other than lap dogs) stay indoors 24/7 or to lock a dog in a crate while you're at work for 8 hours.

My lab mix fricked my house up. Ate the siding off of the house, patio furniture, and the patio furniture covers. The other big dog ate the drywall in the dog lair. That's why they get kenneled now. I go home for lunch 99% of the time. We try to minimize kennel time to 4'ish hours besides sleeping.

Ours have access to the backyard via doggie door. However....they much rather lay around on our couch than hang out outside. They go outside to poop, pee and bark at the neighbor's spawn of satan cat and then back inside. I make sure to take them for frequent walks and to the park as well.
