If you could choose one type of welfare to contribute to what would it be?

Mine would be free school lunches for all public school children. I don't think the stigma of being a Free and reduced lunch kid is a just label for any kid.

How does your contribution to the free school lunch program help with the stigmatization of the children receiving said free lunch?

Let me guess- you didn't put much thought into this.

Let's just do this as a matter of educational expense and not call it welfare.

But you will still have overachieving moms send kids with extra food.

because all kids would receive free lunches therefore removing any and all stigma that is inherently present right now.

My bad. I missed the word "all".

Still- the only way it would remove the stigmatization is if you made it mandatory for all kids to eat the free food. You wanna make it mandatory for kids to eat the food?

There is no stigma now. Kids don't pay for lunches like we did growing up. Instead they all have a PIN number they enter. If you are a kid who has to pay for lunches, the amount of that lunch is deducted from your lunch account. When the money gets low in that account the parent (that's me) gets a auto phone call from the school saying that their kid's account is low and needs to have some money deposited into it.

Kids on free lunch enter in a PIN number just like everyone else except they actually don't have an account. And from what I understand, oftentimes the kid doesn't even know they are on free lunch.

you may be right. If so i did not know that. I just remember growing up the few kids that were on it were constantly ridiculed and exiled because they were poors.

not every school is like that.

the HS i went to had us but lunch tickets. the kids on free lunch had different color tickets iirc.

also, the N in PIN stands for number... you don't need to put in your PIN Number at the ATM machines.
