I dont get it. It seems like a minor sidenote. Its not like his child died in childbirth or anything. Media making a big deal about this for some reason it seems like.

Yup.

Not really that big of a deal.

It's a man showing a lot of emotion about the birth of his daughter. How can you not love that?

It isn't big deal. Just a Dad dedicating a game/big play to his new daughter. Not really sure how people could get upset over this. That's going to be really cool to see when she's older.

So the story is relevant because of the emotion he showed, rather than what the emotion was about?

It's about both. His daughter was born hours before his game. He scored a touchdown and dedicated his celebration to her. And got choked up after the game when asked about it.

It's a heartwarming story.

How can anyone feel negatively about that?

In a league where all news is domestic abuse and child abuse and other crap...I will take this. What's wrong with a guy getting emotional about having a child?

I saw the celebration this morning and was wondering if the refs flagged him for the celebration because he used the ball as a prop.

This! Where does it say it's ok to harp on child abuse for 3 weeks but celebrating the life of a newborn just reeks of stupidity?

Then how are you confused? It's a pretty straightforward story than many people enjoyed.

It's great to see a father care. So many dads are absent in their children's lives.

It's because he cried and had a good game I assume

Chris Bosh had a kid during the playoffs last year (by last year I mean a couple of years ago ). Stayed up all night til the child was born then flew 3000 miles to play all in the same day.

Guess how many fricks were given that day by the media? There was a little sidenote. That was about it

Maybe he should have gone off for 30 points and cried the whole time.

The manufactured ESPN/NFL story is because it's a grown man/tough NFL guy getting emotional. The NFL loves it cause it shows a soft side, amid the child abuse/woman violence.

The real story is that he watched the birth if his daughter that morning and caught a TD later that day. That's the real story and it's a good one.

Well, it seems like the attention they are giving his child being born is disproportionate to all of the other players who have children born. Solely because he had the chance to do a TD celebration. That's what seems strange to me. There is nothing particularly special about his child being born vs some other NFL players. Except he got to do a celebration cuz he scored a TD.

I think it has more to do with the emotion he showed than the fact that he had a child.

This is why Im so confused. Not this specific reason, but the general idea that this probably happens semi frequently with no coverage.

You're telling me ESPN didn't have a segment on Sportscenter talking about it?
