I'm not splitting hairs at all. Why do people actively make fun of ND? The answer is because they dislike ND (aka "care"). Nobody's making fun of Stanford. Stanford started the season ranked ahead of ND. ND beat Stanford head-to-head. ND still has a better record than Stanford. I don't see a thread making fun of Stanford. There's the SEC Rant now, but if there wasn't, do you envision this thread being made on the MSB for A&M or South Carolina? I doubt it.

People respect Stanford sports a lot more than they do Notre Dame. Enjoying them lose doesn't mean you care about them. I wouldn't wish a lose to anyone/anything I care about.

Still not as bad as the 2012 USC Trojans. Preseason #1 team in the country and finished 7-6 that year .

If you follow close enough to know whether they win or lose, then you care. That is pretty simple.
Also, I respect ND more than Stanford because historically ND has a much superior football history with similar academic restrictions. Stanford is a perennial average to doormat program so they don't threaten anyone's sensibilities like ND does.

Worse than LSU though is Stanford, OU, and South Carolina. Those teams were ranked pretty far out of line and tanked early.

My partner at work is ND alumni and his son is as well. The reason everyone hates ND is because your fanbase believes they are superior. I hear it every year. When they win a few games, there is no one better; and when they lose, it's because they cannot give schollies to same kids the SEC does. There's always excuses with the golden domers. It felt good watching Brindza piss away the game yesterday for the second week in a row.

People "care" because they have every advantage imaginable and are sucked off like the NYT sucks off democrats and they still have been irrelevant nationally for almost all of the last 2+ decades.
