Has New Orleans ever brought in a top free agent? Nope. Even Houston struggled, and it's a much bigger market than New Orleans.

New Orleans has a likable super star

The Grizzlies are where they are because of the Marc Gasol trade that everyone labeled as horrible at the time. Also, Randolph was a total steal. Both the Grizzlies and Rockets became relevant without tanking, but that is not the norm.

Tyreke was a pretty big name FA pickup. Now with Davis on the team, there's a much bigger chance more come.

Just out of curiosity, who, in your opinions, is currently the better overall player: Dwight Howard or Anthony Davis?
let's try and keep the boomtardness out of this thread

Is this supposed to be a shot at Harden? I've never heard of players not liking him. Durant loves him.

Just quoting a Zach Lowe article from over the summer where he mentioned that the flaw in Morey's plan to chase another superstar was sorely hurt by the fact that he has the two superstars that no other stars want to play with.

Interesting. I don't really think Houston needs a third superstar. I think they just need a solid team around the two, something I know Morey can do with another offseason. Hell, he scrapped some decent guys together this year after his plan fell apart.

yeah, the rockets are definitely much better than I though they would be after what appeared to be a bad offseason

Outside of Anderson, we rushed our teams development and we surrounded with with good talent, but not talent that will put us over the top-IMO.

We would need Evans or holiday to take their game to an all-star level for us to be West conference mainstays

Sugar coat it all you want. A big free agent pick-up is a guy who top teams want. Nobody wanted Evans.

Evans has been a lot better than I thought he would be.

Evans was pretty good as a rookie but then fell off and not many teams wanted him.

It's good he got a fresh start in New Orleans and seems to be doing decent enough, but it's not like he was a big free agent that teams were chasing...

One thing I hate about the NBA is that small town teams are at a huge disadvantage. The Spurs are an anomaly.

That is true, but they aren't a "small town team".
