Someone on PR did some breaking down of Gordon's injury (shoulder subluxation) and it's pretty depressing.

quote:

A shoulder subluxation is more similar to what Drew Brees sustained in San Diego which of course changed the history of the New Orleans Saints when released from the Chargers and declined by the Dophins. Hopefully Eric Gordons injury is not as severe as Dwayne Wade's 2007 injury. (Who elected to play out the season before eventually having surgery and extensive rehab)

A shoulder separation is a tear of the Acromio-clavicular joint of the joint between the collar bone and shoulder blade and does not involve the shoulder joint itself. This is more like the injury Jimmy Graham has fought through this year. First degree tears while painful can be played through without long term consequences.

Shoulder subluxations, however, sometimes require surgery and rest and extensive therapy to avoid frozen shoulders and recurrent dislocations.
A shoulder subluxation can be a season ending injury especially if associated with labral or tendon tears.

Keep in mind this is just him researching the condition, we have no idea the severity of Gordon's case, but it sounds kind of serious

Wow didn't even realize he got injured, this will really hurt the limited depth we do have.

regardless of people's thoughts on the guy, he's played very well the past few weeks, and if he's out for a substantial amount of time, that's a huge loss for this team

Yea because he intentionally wants to get injured, and probably have body pain the rest of his life. He wanted to injure both knees and now possibly tear his shoulder, to milk the Pelicans for all they have.

Never understand people that blame a player for getting injured. All were serious injuries.

All that being said he is still injury prone and was never worth the contract. He is Mr. Glass. The circle is complete now.

Doesn't stop people from getting frustrated with him.. The guy came here stayed injured, made it obvious he didn't want to be here despite cashing in a huge payday... I'll stay optimistic but this is so frustrating... Asik missing games now Gordon will miss significant time... I hope AD just goes God mode and powers us into the playoffs

i think more importantly, we need Rivers to step up and be a capable and consistent guard

What a drag. He was contributing. Just hope this isn't a version of the Jamal Mashburn shite show.

I see a stretch provision in our future.

Russ is a d-leaguer right now. Jimmer is a 9th best player on any roster. These aren't guys whose presence on the court leads to wins in the NBA.

I dont know much about this. How different is it from a buyout? Also, what's the cap hit on a buy out after this year? I just want to move on.

Stretch provision allows you to waive a player and stretch the cap hit over a number of seasons afterward.

So, essentially the same thing as a buyout?
