Okay, so, I have a hard enough time getting my wife to go to The Chimes. I like pub food more than she does. She'll usually go for the fish dishes there. There were none tonight. So, after the spinach artichoke dip, she went for the small crawfish etouffee, which she's had before.

The dish was nicely spiced, but only six crawfish tails adorned the rice/etoufee.

The price was $6.95. Really, I'd pay more for a decent amount of crawfish, but please, don't charge me less if you can only fish out 6 crawfish to put atop the etoufee.

In other words, there's no incentive for my wife to go back after being disappointed.

And, no. We didn't complain. The amount of crawfish served wasn't an accident. It's a business practice. So, my wife didn't enjoy doing business there. And, it might be a while before we go back.

Your friend, Enadious....

It's not crawfish season.

All you had to do was ask your server for a 'few more' and I'm sure they would accommodate.

I know I'm in the minority but I find chimes to be highly overrated.

Bullllllllllllllllllllllfrickingshit

Not sure if you know how restaurants or recipes work, but they didn't make your etouffee to order.

It is scooped out of a pot. It takes longer than 10 minutes to cook etouffee.

You got an unlucky scoop.

No different than when I scoop some jambalaya at home and end up with 2 pieces of sausage.

Get over yourself.

Beer is still slammin though.
That's probably more important.

Was it good? What if there were 8 crawfish, or 18 and it tasted like shite?

Where's the shittiest restaurant she'll eat at now?

They did you a favor then. Chimes appetizers are pretty good but their entrees are all terrible. I have been several times and never liked my main course there.

You have a hard time getting your wife to go to a resturant with great beer and wine, great prices, a great atmosphere and a well above average selection of food? Man, I'm glad she's your wife.

Hopefully you've learned some manners since the last time I saw you there.

You ordered a small crawfish étouffée not during crawfish season. I don't feel sorry for you at all. What the frick did you expect?

Doesn't mean it's good food. I agree with those posters that say it's just ok. For $6.95 it's better than a nacho bell grande meal but I've had few really good dishes at The Chimes. It's a bar with food.

He said above average selection. He did not say above average food. Who's drinking? I am...but I can still comprehend what I read.

I doubt he would bring up the food if he thought it was shitty, considering he praised everything else.

What are peoples expectations? Its good food at a fair price and you're comparing it to taco bell.

The taco hell comparison was said in jest. It was obviously an exaggeration. However, I don't go to The Chimes for their food. Having said that, those cheese fries are solid.

Hate to break the news but... Those crawfish , in or out of season, are coming from China

Pfffft.

I'm no Chimes fanatic, but they do some things very well. Their etouffee and their red beans are very good. The spinach and artichoke dip may as well not be called that because it's much better than spinach dip anywhere else. Sautéed crab claws are legit.

As for entrees other than red beans and etouffee, the pork chops kick arse. I find the pasta good too

All of that on top of the best beer selection in the city... (beat by maybe Cove only).. yeah its good.

Having to convince your wife to eat "bar food" makes me picture her like some girls I know that refuse to go have drinks anywhere but Jubans and Galatoires. (OP, not you)
