The Glory of Real Garlic

For the last two years, I've met about 80% of my vegetable needs from either my garden or the farmer's market, but I continued to buy garlic from the grocery store.
During the last market of the year, a farmer I buy a lot of produce from offered me a deal on garlic, so I bought a huge bag of already cured garlic.
This stuff has been fantastic and has changed everything I add it to for the better.
Each clove comes out so easily, it's never bitter, and the flavor would require another thread.
Gumbo, stews, greens, everything tastes better.
I may never be able to go back to regular garlic again.
I've read before about how average grocery store garlic is often quite old and even from China, but I had no idea what I was missing.
I'm gonna grow a shite ton this year.

Who are you getting yours from? I'd love an alternative to garlic powder or grocery store garlic.

I'm still trying to find a good source for this year, apparently I missed a good window.
There's a Christmas farmer's market here in a couple of weeks, I'm just gonna ask the farmer how to start my own or buy more.

wild garlic grows all over my parents property
I keep thinking that I'm going to transplant some to my yard, but I keep forgetting
its, by far, the best garlic I've had

I get mine from Southside produce. Is that not real garlic?

You can get garlic at a local nursery I'm sure, or you can buy it online. Take the bulb, break the cloves off but leave paper on, and stick em in the dirt about 2" deep. They'll start popping up in the spring and should be ready early summer.

Well, you have to have somewhere worth a shite to plant them. Good soil that will drain and gets good sunlight. But theoretically yea, it's that easy.

The Old Farmer's Almanac I'm jumping on this today.

Also, make sure it's a spot that your dog can't get into since garlic can make them very sick if they eat it.

Any sites online that I can order fresh, home-grown garlic?

So what the difference between this garlic and what I can buy at Rouse's or Whole Foods?

Not sure, but whenever I cook something with raw garlic (like making toum) I always cut the sprouts/roots out.
If it's going to be cooked down, I leave it all in and have never noticed anything weird.
