OEJs gets good shows but I'm not a big fan of the interior. Too narrow and those side booths suck. i do like the bar though
I like the interior. Sure the layout is far from ideal but I always have a good time there. Side booths should be removed. Like the texture and look of the walls. My only real beef is the black door guy that is an absolute count and the overzealous security. Venue would be optimal with different staff.

ETA: love the bar shape, lights, and location

Shittable bathrooms too
Came down from BR in college to see Pretty Lights play there in front of about 45 people, back when he was a nobody. A guy with a backpack on inside was openly selling dirty rolls and shroom chocolates wrapped in foil. Some of my buds, TD posters, ate the dirty rolls and had to sit down. They were sweating bullets, mouth wide open, and one of the guys kept rolling his eyes into the back of his head. I was on the shrooms and was freaking out. It was my first time at OEJ. I walked into the bathroom and it was so dingy. The lights in there were red and two guys were doing rails on the toilet stall divider/wall/barrier/thing. I felt like I was in some sketchy Thai brothel, Mexican nightclub, or other 3rd world hellhole. Pissed and got outside as quick as I could because I was slightly afraid while tripping. My car also got a parking ticket that night in the nearby lot and I still have no idea why. Not sure why that's relevant. It's was total amateur hour and n00b status on my part.

OEJ is awesome. Fitzgeralds to me is the best independent music venue ive visited in the south. Upstairs and downstairs stages so there are always two bands playing. Last year i saw foxygen open for unknown mortal orchestra then went upstairs and saw black moth super rainbow. One of the things i miss about houston.

They are about to close down that Fitzgeralds location off white oaks and building a newer venue in a different part of town.. apparently its struggling these days.. They cant pull in the same acts as they used too.

Really? That's pretty fricking weird. I tried to do that to a door girl at Tipitina's once. Still paying the lawyer fees from that one
