The more it snows like that, the more likely they are to move South.

Why do you think I ended up in BR for grad school after spending four years in Syracuse?

i knew a guy that worked construction in the summer, and shoveled roofs in the winter. This was in steamboat.

He made more money shoveling snow off roofs than working construction. Owners would want the snow off ASAP, so he would work 24 hrs a day after a big storm hit.

but it looks like a ton of fun, like playing on a fluffy cloud.

We have about 6 inches of it right now up here. It is all lake effect like Buffalo's. Lake effect snow is typically wet and heavy, which is not fun at all.

The light fluffy system snow IS fun though. Wife hates it, I love it still.

Lake effect, not so much.

Oh, I gotcha. Obviously us Mississippi folk don't know much about snow.

Which region gets the fun snow?

Well in NY, there's always a race for the Golden Snowball for the most snow in a season. LINK

Usually Syracuse wins, Buffalo is 2nd, Rochester is 3rd.

Everywhere.

Sadly though we get both because we live in just the right spot off of the great lakes. It's extremely spotty as well, the area 1 mile south or east of me may get half an inch while I get 5 inches. Other times I will get half an inch by a mile west of me will get 5. Forecasts are not able to predict where the bands will actually fall, just that there will be bands of it, and they may or may not stall out over certain areas.
