I still think had we held on against Bama, we would have beaten Arkansas. It would been an entirely different script and outcome; and we'd be #7 or 8 in the country right now.....

This board is definitely of the "glass half empty" mindset ... prepare yourself to be bombarded.

So if you go 2-10, but beat two Top 10 teams, you'd think that's sweet???

I'll let you know when we go 2-10. Did you have a point looming on the horizon?

No rebuilding year is a good year. This is obvious. My point was that, as far as down years go, it's not like this is the end of the world. shite, look at what Texas, USC, Ohio St, Michigan, Florida, etc have all gone through in the last few years.

The defense has absolutely progressed throughout the year. If you can't see that, nothing can be done for you. We've got a nice set of running backs for the next few years. The OL adjusted to Grimes' schemes down the road, despite the Arkansas collapse. The receivers will be fine. The QB situation is concerning, but the guys are young.

Absolutely right, the defense has progressed very well.

My point was that winning some games against Top 20 competition is certainly good, but you've got to look at it all, not just the high points. Our offense, with rare exception, has been putrid. QB play is awful, and not likely to get better next year if AJ is still our starter.

We got blown out by Auburn (now with 3 losses), dominated by Miss St, nearly lost to a horrible Florida team, and did lose horribly to a team that hadn't won a conference game in 2 years.

So a couple good wins are nice, but we've had too many stinkers for me to accept, whether we're "young" or not.

So what? That's a great attitude if your Kentucky. We are supposed to be the number 8 team. We are supposed to be the number 1 team. Not the program that settles for satisfaction for playing the number 1 team close. That's just BS.

They also got blown out by Auburn, embarrassed at home by State (a team that hadn't beaten LSU in Baton Rouge since the Dinardo regime), and shut out by Arkansas.

USC was dealing with sanctions

Ohio State had to fire their coach because of sanctions and has gone like 33-3 over the last 3 seasons.

Texas kept their "legend" coach too long after things started downhill.

Michigan has struggled, but they are too stuck on a "Michigan man" trend and their alums didn't help the situation.

All have explanations whether you care to accept it or not, but just stating "We aren't having as bad a time as those schools is kind of sad seeing as Muschamp went to as many BCS bowls in the last 4 years as Les went to in the past 7.

LSU is likely to lose its two best DEs to the draft this off-season. While the DT's definitely have progressed, other than Tuehema, the backup DE's have been bad the whole year for the most part.

LSU is improving in some areas clearly on defense, but is going to struggle in other areas with youth and inexperience next year.

Same goes for the OL. We very well could lose 4 starters this offseason, plus two of our top reserves.

Do you think that is going to make for a better offense next year including losing Hilliard and Magee?

Next year is no where as "set up" as people want to believe.

I think the win vs Wisky may have cost us the State, Bama, and Arky games actually. We were getting our asses kicked and down double digits in the 4th qtr, then all of a sudden without changing a damn thing our running game opened up and we won. Remember, we didnt change anything, we just wore them down. There was no great coaching philosophy that changed that game. I think that allowed Miles the reason to believe "we will wear em down in the 4th and they wont be able to stop it" mentality that bit us in the arse later in the season

But we did change something. We went to a one back set with three receivers. It made them quit stacking the box.
