I remember saying "Wow,- dude is big and dang that ball got there quick, how pretty was that compared to JJ, consider me excited!!!".

JR? First impression of the ball coming off his hand? "Wow..dude is huge, and he can really fling it all over the place, lacks sideward mobility will take some sacks.

MF? first impression? Nice velocity, accurate, can run too. More than a game manager.

JJ first impression? "Hmmm, let's wait and see more, looks like he can run, I have hope because he is pretty big and athletic" (we know the outcome)

JL, "some velocity, undersized, nice spiral, can't run or escape much"

Jennings first impression? Pretty deep ball, looks like he can run, undersized, lacks velocity, accuracy an issue, and can't find 2nd or 3rd wide open guy.

Harris first impression? "wow, Dude has a gun and he can run"

All the guys that had wow first impression were drafted!!!

Certainly there is a lot that goes into the playing QB beyond arm talent, but first impression kind of tells us what we need to know about the likelihood of future performances.

Admittedly, the first time i saw AJ McCarron play as a freshman, I laughed and thought, "oh we gonna beat their butts if this their future QB... well, we know how that turned around...AJ was great

Harris is more like Flynn relative to arm strength, but a little bigger arm, overall size about same (Harris just needs to fill in), but much more mobile though Flynn was mobile, thus more upside on the Collegiate level IMHO.

What say you?

Well, clearly you should be LSU's new recruiting coordinator.

"Wow!"

The same thought crossed my mind when I saw Harris let one rip for the first time

How many plays are there in a typical season? We need to sign that many QBs.

Nah. Total plays divided by 10 since we only throw 10% of the time

Exactly!

JR had to wait his turn
RP had to wait who I forgot to list
MF had to wait
Mett had to wait
Harris is waiting...

but Harris will be the future, it's not really even if it's when and the fan base is ready to start the era now...we can live with some of the ugly, but lets get that experience going now!

JJ had a rocket arm FWIW..Bad mechanics and couldn't read a defense..but the kid could run...and throw the hell out of a football.

Harris will be starting next season. Next spring he will once again out perform AJ and know the playbook(hopefully). He wants that starting position bad.

It was probably in practice, so I can't say.

Not even close. Harris arm is much closer to Mett & Jamarcus than it is to Flynn. Jennings & Flynn would be a better comparison

A lot of information on one throw.

Odd that you are able to tell running ability based off their throwing. I wonder what the correlation is..........

From a physical standing JJ had a lot going on.

He would be in the NFL right now if he decided to go run routes and show he can catch a football instead of pretending eh had a chance as a QB.

Just my opinion.

The OP really appears to be a bunch of fluff designed really to talk about how Harris looks now compared to AJ. So, that's the part I'll answer.

I don't know if Harris is actually light years more talented than AJ but I do know this as someone who knows a bit about throwing the football.

The first time I saw Harris pass, my absolute first thought was, "Holy shite that's a glaring difference" as it related to AJ.

Now, Jeff George had an AWESOME ball too but blew as a QB so, all I'm saying is that when letting go of that bitch, Harris most certainly "appears" to be light years better as a thrower.

I hope that translates into him being a good QB with the caveat that "great thrower" while important to being a good QB doesn't mean one WILL be a good QB. The following sentence is true.

All great QBs are great throwers but not all great throwers are great QBs.

I think you meant Jennings here. Harris has noticeably better arm strength than either.

interesting first thoughts you got there. I tend to remember first extensive action moreso than first few passes (though some overlapped). and I was actually impressed with every guy the 1st time I saw em. you could see where there was room for improvement, but you could also see the potential as passers with every one.
