I really didn't where else to post this hope you guys don't mind. I will be graduating college in May and I am beginning to go on job interviews. I have a beard that is full and trimmed fairly short. I am trying to decide on whether shave it or not for an upcoming interview. I am in chemical engineering and the job is for a company that does engineering solutions if that matters any.

I went clean shaven and got a job offer. It was the right choice.

I would shave then once I got the job, gauge how others cone into work before growing beard again. Although I cant grow a nice even beard so I always have to shave.

Unless you have a lumberjack interview coming up shave. You should shave regardless while getting started. You have to earn the right not to shave in No Shave November

Let me just add that since you are going into chem-e, are you going to have to go to plants and whatnot for on-site work? Many plants don't allow anyone to have a beard.

only if you are required to wear a respirator.
I work in engineering at a plant. it is not imperative that you shave, but definitely keep it clean. no neck beard, evenly trimmed, not douchebag pencil thin.

If its clean, no one will care. Safe bet is to shave if you think you're likely the best candidate. However if it looks good, someone may also have a beard and appreciate you appearance. I have to be honest that's it likely meaningless.

Keep the beard, immediately apologize for having the beard, make up some story about a family member or friend having a disease and the beard is being used as tribute/charity for them, profit.

If the firm does work for Industrial plants you will most likely have to shave anyway to go in the plant.

yeah, but chem-e's don't go to the field very often and he probably won't have to shave it very often
I haven't worked for any consultant firms that had any facial hair policies for the office....hell I work with some gorilla looking sumbitches right now....I guess because NSN is still cool

Just shave it off. How long would it take you to grow the beard back? Shave it off and then grow it back...not very difficult.

We turned a perfect candidate down not too long ago because the guy had those earring/plugs. He missed out because one person didn't like him; the top dog who is conservative old white dude. Now the ole white dude in question was very vague on his reasoning but it was pretty clear he didn't like the way the guy looked.
My general advice to you is hide tattoos, no piercings, shave, clean haircut. Yes sir No sir to everyone you meet. Firm handshake, good eye contact. All the old stereotypes. Once you get in the door and they know you're a rockstar then you can start dressing like one.(maybe)
