Which active coach would have the best chance of beating Saban more than 50%?

while competing in the SEC West. My best guess would be Jim Harbaugh.

I would say Gus Malzahn at the present moment, but only because he is 1-0 against him. In no way do I think he can actually do that. Maybe Butch Jones at Tennessee for similar reasons. What is Spurrier's record against Saban, I bet it is pretty good.

Man, fuq Saban and Bama.
You can say that all you want, but you still have to dominate him to have national success.

Do you people really want Jim Harbough? He's a younger Les who has the same ultimate philosophy which is to run it down your throat. Plus, another Michigan man, excuse me, but I hate fricking Michigan men. Why do they get such a bad arse profile? Because it's one of the winningest programs in history? That's bullshite, if that's the basis, then hire an Ohio state guy and go after Jim Tressel. Why not go after an NFL guy?

That is what is funny about the desire.....

I think Spurrier is 3-1 against him. Honestly though, he is a great coach at a historical powerhouse. He gets tons of exposure and has a leg up on recruiting. His olineman don't get called for holding and his team typically gets the tough ones called their way. While he is where he is, it's going to be very tough to beat him more than 50% of the time.

I am just saying that in order for the status quo to change in the SEC West, it is going to take someone with discipline, intensity and energy.

Yeah, but he threw to TE's @ Stanford!

Would dance around a good bit if we got him.

I don't even understand why anyone would think he'd leave the NFL for any college job, let alone LSU. Has talked about wanting to return to college?

Whether you like it or not, Miles will be the coach here till he retires.

I'd take Tressel or petrino. Maybe even Pete Carroll

I don't think any particular scheme is necessarily better that another, but you better have some wrinkle that you can throw out.
More than anything, I think Saban's recent success is due to the fact that he has accepted that he needs his teams to break tendencies more when they play LSU. 4 years ago we were the team running the TE reverse of 4th and 1 and now Alabama is splitting their LT out wide to open overtime.

Some have reported that he said he would not be back at S.F. next year. Does not get along with management.

IF Les's ONLY sin was failure to beat Saban, then you'd have a much different argument, and for me at least, a much harder time proving he should be fired. But we're not going 11-1/10-2 every year and only losing close games to the cream of the crop in the SEC. We're looking like crap for 75% of our games, struggling to beat bad teams and generally getting out shite pushed in against good teams. Right now I'll take a coach who puts a consistent product that can at least not get penalties coming out of time outs. We'll worry about Nick after that is done.
