So is Les just historically unlucky at recruiting/evaluating QBs?

or can we just admit its him? The top 3 QBs under his regime were either brought in by the previous staff (Flynn, Russell) or just fell arse backwards into thanks to unfortunate circumstances (Mett). All the others recruited under Les have been epic fails if they even stick around in town long enough to get their chance.

Gunner Kiel should thank his lucky stars he didn't have "the chest" to board the plane that day.

Lee was pretty good his last year outside of one half against Bama, then never given another chance.

I think he handles qbs very poorly.. And it first starts with the psychology of it all.

it seems to be a bit of both...

unlucky with RP and maybe Zach Lee

and bad at either evaluating or developing a few QBs

fair enough, but if Lee is who you're hanging your hat on then that truly shows how awful its been

His stats that year were good, but otherwise yea.

I think it's part unlucky and poor development. Unlucky regarding Perrilloux having to be kick off the team.

Poor development with both Lee and JJ. They both had times where they looked like good QBs. But JJ was too inconsistent and did some truly mind numbing things on the field. Couple that with some less than stellar play calling that Miles clearly has a hand in, and you get our situation.

He does not build his offense around the talent at the position. He wants his QBs to run his offense instead of tailoring the offense to his QBs.

Anyone ever wonder how God aweful all the other quarterbacks that just fled the program must have been to get beat out by such piss poor quarterback play?

Les doesn't know how to fit a system to the players in it. We look like we don't have a real structured plan in how we recruit.

Actually this is exactly what he does. We do not have QB's that can throw so we run.

There is just no way this is true. All of our QB recruits threw well enough in high school to be recruited by major college programs. Acting like their talent just magically disappears when the get to campus is delusional.

The best quarterbacks Les has had have been pocket passers. The failures have been running quarterbacks.

Why he keeps recruiting running quarterbacks to play in the i-formation as a pocket passer is beyond me.

Just being funny. I'm to that stage, it's just all funny now. Hope you can get there too.

Jennings is not a running quarterback

He hates to run

Well his lack of a chest put us in a far worse spot for future QBing at that time.

If you go back and look at his HS tape you'll see that he often ran the ball. I doubt he got to LSU and decided that he now just hates to run. Does he "hate to run" or is the coaching staff drilling it in his head to stay in the pocket at all costs?

which is fine if you know who you are, Bama does it with great success. Saban recruits guys to do what he likes to do on offense, Les is all over the place and just hopes it works out.

Les ruins QB's.

When Lee was struggling throwing pick 6's, Les left him out there to keep throwing them.

When Jefferson could have benefited from watching a few series from the sidelines and listening to the coaches, he left him out there to fail.

Jennings - same thing.

Death Valley - A place where QB recruits dreams come to die.
