I believe the LSU coaches think Jennings is likely to be more careful than Harris with his throws, hence throw less interceptions.

It is obvious Jennings hesitates too long on deeper pass patterns, hence extra pressure, sacks, poor throws, and scrambles by Jennings.

Do the coaches not realize that every 3rd down not converted by Jennings is a turnover? Let Harris play and wing it! He might have a few more 3rd down conversions and keep the opponents offense off the field! So what if there are a couple of interceptions. Over all, it might get the offense into some rhythm.

What do you think? Am I crazy?

the QB's are scared to make mistakes and in turn, make a lot of mistakes.

it seems to be coached into them. mett wasn't like that though but I think that's because mett had years of QB coaching before he came to LSU.

This can't be true because if you factor in the fumbles by AJ with his Int's he has turned the ball over more than anybody

only RB's get benched for fumbles, not jennings

A plethora of 3 and outs and scoring 23 points in 3 games is worse than turnovers.

Plus, Jennings turns it over anyway. A lot.

I really do not see the upside to him, unless Harris is just horrible, has a bad attitude, refuses to put in work, and won't listen to the coaches.

08 Lee scarred Miles for life.

2008 changed Miles' mindset completely. The TO's killed LSU in several games. The thing is though, the defense was also the worst LSU fielded in 15 years (this team was on pace to be worse, but completely turned things around). Also, despite the TO's, Lee moved the ball effectively at times.

Starting in 09 LSU changed it's approach to winning. Play great defense and ST; utilize an ultra-conservative approach on offense to minimize mistakes; make certain that (at worst) LSU was close going into the 4th quarter. For the most part the strategy was successful. However, it left LSU with very little margin for error against both good and mediocre teams alike. At all costs the defense could not have a bad day, and the offense HAD to convert in high pressure situations. It really is amazing how many times over the years the generally stagnant LSU offense was able to come up in big spots when they absolutely HAD to make a play.

2013 remains the outlier on offense. Was that because LSU was so good on offense? Or was it because the defense was the worst it had been in 5 years so the offense had no choice but to open up a bit? IMO, it was probably a combination. Remember, we saw what had been an effective offense go back into it's shell against a bad UF team when racking up points wasn't necessary to win the game.

This season LSU once again wanted to go back to its 09-12 formula. The play of the defense simply would not allow it early on and we saw the results, two blowout SEC losses. The defense turned things around, but with the inexperience at the skill positions coupled with the ultra-conservative approach, LSU struggled to make the few plays the offensive approach forced them to make.

To me, the frustrating part is that we (if you look past the hate for AJ) can see that LSU can be successful on offense when the guys are put in position to make plays. It's clear that both Harris and Jennings are much more comfortable when taking snaps out of the shotgun and looking to hit quick timing routes outside and in the seams. I know he fumbled to end the drive, but Jennings looked like a completely different QB when LSU went to the "hurry up" after falling behind 17-0. All of these guys have ability. Good coaching finds a way to play to their strengths instead of forcing them to execute a "system" that doesn't fit their skill sets

He may be onto something here.
