A bunch of posters on this board jizz their pj's at the mention of this movie, it's good but not deserving of the praise it gets. Great visuals and the cast has good chemistry, but the story is really weak and the humor is immature and comes across as desperate at times.

Just watched it... Totally better than any capt Americas and thors. It's close to as good as the new x men's

I'm as big a fan of GotG as there is around here and I still don't agree with this.
I think it's less straight up hating because it's popular and more, just being more direct in their ideas about why they didn't enjoy a film.
There are plenty of films that don't entertain everyone. This is nothing new.
To put it simply, I don't think someone who dislikes GotG is doing it because it's popular, I think someone disliking GotG probably dislikes the movie but find more concrete ways to dislike BECAUSE it is popular.

Thought I'd hate it. I hate the comic. It's stupid.
With that said, the movie was excellent. Probably the best movie of the yr. Definitely one of the best movies based off of comic books

Kidding. I just don't like that reasoning because then it's thrown in your face in return often. The more people talk about opinions like that, the worse discussion becomes. See DC debates, which for a time recently, are simply about people throwing mass generalizations against simple critiques.

I can go with this. To the comment about it being juvenile, that's kind of the point. The movie is about Peter Quill growing up. He's the glue that holds things together. It had to start with him being a child essentially.

Thought it was a phenomenal movie.
