Yoyoing for white perch/sacalait question

How cold does it need to get and for how long does it need to stay cold until the yoyoing for sacalait gets good? Is there a consistent water temperature that needs to be met?
TIA
TIA

Where are you planning on going. I've done well all times of the year in different parts of the state.
But right now should be a good time to go, because the gators shouldn't be a problem.

Go for it! It's still a little early here in Cenla but I think your good. We've had HUGE success yr in and yr out starting at tbe end of Nov to spring. So much that I don't fool with them when it warms. Now being that it's not burning cold be sure to check them often because some will dangle half way out of the water. If it's cold enough they stay good but to warm for to long and you have bad fish. Oh and be sure to leave a name and number on your yoyos. More and more areas, if not all, are requiring it. Good luck

Up here on The Bend we have best luck with yoyos the mid Dec to end of Feb. I don't know if there is a consistent temp that needs to be met or not but that time frame for us always seems to work.

Where I live the crappie move into the downed trees when the water temperature hits 65 degrees. Usually from November to the spawn.

As long as it's cold enough that the gators/turtles don't eat your catch.

JJB, I'm also in cenla. Pineville specifically. What body of water do you fish? Don't want any specific details, since I'm sure you don't want to give away your special spots. I just want to get a good shot at some since I haven't really had any luck the past year.

Thanks to everyone for their responses. I'm gonna go this weekend. I'll post pics if I get anything noteworthy.

Are you new to the area, or white perch fishing in general? What lakes are you wanting to fish/yoyo?

Rumor has it that our duck lease also has good sacalait fishing. Was thinking about doing this while we hunt.
