22' sea champ?

2006 22' sea champ with 250 yamaha 4 stroke. Buddy wanting to sell. I get "buddy price" of $22k. 250 hrs on engine. All electronics included.
I know there were some issues with champion but im not fully up to speed on them.
help?

Think you would be happier finding a triton LTS like you were asking about in your earlier thread.

difference is i KNOW the guy selling his sea champ. we been buddies for years and he is pretty particular about upkeep, maintenance, etc - vs buying from a stranger.

Some of the later model champions have major fiberglass issues. Floor and transoms rotting away. When the sons took over the company they started cutting corners and warranty work is what put them out of business

thats what i had always heard but i havent heard it from someone directly affected. always "a buddies friend" had problems.

I've know 2 guys who had to have there entire floors rebuilt. I will tell you that there was no question their floors were fricked so if the boat your looking at feels sturdy you would probably be safe.

warranty is out on an '06 but what about guys willing/able to repair a problem?

This, I personally know someone who had to have their transom replaced and several soft spots were developing when the boat was sold.
