PC- ever had a system update kill your game?

I was plating an epic round of a game of Civilization V that I have been playing since August. Playing on and off here and there, I finally put a few hours into it last night. I finally took out a rival who I had been warring with and then my computer shut down for system updates. No saving. My last 21 turns wiped out.
