I just bought a used car for my son. It is a 2003 truck. Any ideas on how to update the tech in the car? For example, it dosent have an AUX port.

Thx

Yep. Have a 97 and put a CD player in it with an aux plug. That's pretty much the only update needed in the tech department.

Tell your son that if he wants thumping bass he can work for it. You gave him a big head start already and phat sound wasn't part of the deal.

A couple of years ago I bought a new head (radio) for my 2002 Jeep for $100 or so w/ usb, aux and bluetooth. I also bought the wiring harness to fit my jeep from Crutchfield. I had to splice a couple of wires but the harness was plug and play beyond that.

What kind of truck? This matters

You can also go to Crutchfield and talk live with someone through their messenger. Give them a bit of info, and they'll hook you up properly. They also provide really good installation instructions and technical support for the newbs

I bought a Pyle with USB, Aux, SD card slot new for $20 to put in my convertible. I figured nobody would steal a Pyle and if they did I hadn't lost much. It actually sounds OK with some alpine speakers when your not moving

If he's ambitious he should try for what he can get, that's a good sign. But I'd turn him down and tell him specifically why, he'll figure it out.

I had this setup in a 2001 Expy and it worked ok. Plugged into factory radio between head unit and speakers.

I put a Pioneer Bluetooth radio in my '05 F250 a couple years ago. It was the best $135 I spent in a while.

You can get good Bluetooth radios for even less now. Great upgrade for an older vehicle and safer for your son to use hands-free phone capability and he can play his music from his phone wirelessly.

Just go to Best Buy and make sure you buy the plug/harness to wire to your radio harness. You'll have to connect the wires together, but it's easy. Make sure to get a mount also for the make/model of truck.

Just buy a griffin rf connector that plugs into the cigarette lighter.
