I'm sure the committee comes up with their own SOS. Is there a list of the rankings?

They are using a company called SportSource Analytics. They don't post their data.

Ok thank you. I just saw some folks posting that Bama had a much higher SOS than TCU. Where did they get this info? Was it on the ESPN special where they reveal the poll?

Not that it means anything... but TCU beat more teams "while they were ranked" than any other NCAA team... and that wasn't until the 5th week of the season.

At the beginning of the year - TCU's SOS was consistently 30 spots higher than Alabama's in some... consistently 15 spots lower in others. THEN the polls started coming out.

I understand FSU is the defending national champions, but their schedule is so weak.

I understand you are talking out of your arse. Its not that weak. Notre Dame, Louisville, Clemson, Miami,Florida, and (eventually)Duke are all top 25 or borderline top 25.

6 teams in the top 30 is not really weak.

Plus Boston College and Oklahoma State have a pulse unlike some other team's "easy" non-conference games. Florida State at least has to worry about planning to not be upset.

Agreed. Why don't people say this instead?

I think Oregon has more impressive wins and has played a tougher schedule.

Did you just say Florida is borderline top 25?

Losses don't matter when you score 53 points a game!

I understand that you don't understand the SOS of other teams relative to Fla State. Notre Dame, Louisville, and Clemson are / will end the season in the 20-25 range. Florida sucks. Miami may or may not be a 20-30 team.

Don't act like that schedule even compares to a SECW team.

The committee is telling everybody to run up the score because they'll even give you a mulligan if you do that!

That Utah/Oregon game could have been a lot different if that guy doesn't drop the ball on the 1 and makes the score 14-0 in the first.

But it doesn't even matter. They probably didn't even watch the game. They just saw the final score and said OREGON IS AWESOME!

If you can't recognize the human biases toward the Oregons of college football, then you're just not paying attention. But this is what you wanted.

FYI:

School - Winning % - SOS using old BCS formula
1 Mississippi State 1.000 .591
2 Oregon .889 .600
3 Florida State 1.000 .540
4 TCU .875 .568
5 Alabama .889 .578
6 Arizona State .875 .588
7 Baylor .875 .480
8 Ohio State .889 .523
9 Auburn .778 .650
10 Ole Miss .778 .652

Looking at this alone, I think Oregon shouldn't be ranked more highly than Florida State; obviously one can consider more than this.

Because this happens every year. Oregon gets a mulligan. Now they're ranked higher than unbeaten teams.

Oregon does appear to have the toughest schedule among the one-lossers.

I agree with you but this year their ranking seems to be backed by more than just the eye ball test

No, what they are telling everyone is to schedule real games and they will allow you to lose. Consider this: If Auburn wins out would it be more impressive to beat Samford or would it have been better to schedule Washington State, Texas Tech, hell even Army or Tulane?

Teams should be punished for scheduling teams that aren't even in Division I-A.
