Claims it was good but just not as good as the original. So it did not suck and is fine to go watch and does not piss on the first movie.

I figure that's a safe review, so that regardless of whether real critics love it or hate it, he won't be embarrassed.

Read some reviews on IMDBpro. They weren't good. I don't know about y'all but screw reviews. I've liked several movies that had bad reviews. I'll watch it and make my own opinion about it. I think it's going to suck though. I thought Anchorman 2 sucked.

critical reviews of comedies deviate significantly from audience enjoyment probably moreso than any other genre

Didn't expect it to be as good as the original. But the original got better to me with repeated viewings.

The critics did not like the original Dumb and Dumber. Ebert gave it 2 of 4 stars. Rotten Tomatoe's has it at 64% among critics.
I'll wait until some more people on here see it to start judging.

As a dumb and dumber officianado, I fully expect this movie to suck. There's something cringeworthy about rehashing lines from the original movie.

Had a friend who saw the premiere in Knoxville. He pretty much said the same thing when I asked him.
He is a super fan of the first and was dying to see it and wouldn't stop talking about it. After the premiere, he really didn't talk much about it. So I am guessing it's not good.

Some are actually pretty damn good. I usually watch Stuckmann and Jeremyjahns before going to RT.

Admittedly, the trailers looked terrible but so did the trailer for the original.
It will be pretty damn hard to top the first one, so go in expecting disaster and you might be pleasantly surprised.

I don't want to tarnish the past and the original - just like I won't see any new Vacation and the only Star Wars prequel I saw was the Phantom Menace and then realized: "this isn't going in a good direction, better quit while ahead and preserve the memory of the original trilogy."

I'm curious what the soundtrack will be like.
To this day if I hear a song that was on the original soundtrack I think of Dumb and Dumber, they killed it in that department as well.
