Tigers will be great in 2015 and 2016!

We hear this constantly from sunshine pumpers.
The truth is, until we have a QB that complete passes, this team will be no better than a three loss team the next couple years. It's a shame, too. Last year's recruiting class rill rival the best in LSU history, the 2009 class. IMO, when all is said and done the 2014 LSU class will be looked upon as the most talented ever. Although we are indeed more talented than Alabama now and will be so the next two years, we will not beat Alabama in Tuscaloosa next year. We will have to wait until 2016 at the earliest to beat them again. It will be five straight for the Gumps next year most certainly. They are a different team at Bryant-Denny. Look at this year's games, and just look at 2008. That Alabama team went all the way to the SEC Championship game and was in the hunt for the BCSCG until the end. In 2008 we hosted them in TS. By all accounts, 2008 was the worst team in Miles' entire tenure here at LSU - the FIVE loss LSU team - yet we took that 2008 Alabama team to OT just like this year and nearly beat them. Aside from the 9-6 game, we have not been nearly as lucky in Tuscaloosa. I am not counting 2007 because that was our NC season and Saban's first year at Alabama. That season was clearly, unarguably better for LSU. Sorry gumps. Ever since 1/9, however, things have been going downhill.
Rejoice not, Alabama fans. I know for the most part you are probably smiling at my post right now, but I have something to tell you guys too. When I left the game Saturday night, I saw a lot of you walking outside Tiger Stadium as well. You were all VERY quiet. I heard NOT A SINGLE "Roll Tide!" Truth is I think you guys were just as disappointed with that win as LSU fans were disappointed with the LSU loss, because you know your Alabama team aint all that this year. Truth is, Saturday night was a strange game. It seemed like neither team was hungry until overtime. I'm not saying you gumps won't win a championship this year, but you will certainly be lucky to do so. You may even lose your last two. Actually, my advice to y'all is rather than revel in LSU's misfortunes, you should be worried about that other team, the one on the plains, who may well be the best team in that state over the course of the next few years. Even Verne Lundquist isn't hemorrhaging crimson anymore. The laughable end of last year's Iron Bowl made him just a little bit jaded toward your team. I can tell.
I know my post is in some ways neither here nor there. I criticize both LSU and Alabama. I am just trying to make the point that LSU needs good QB play and too many people are blind to that and think our talent alone will carry us. It won't. With all the talent the Saints team has, where would they be without Sean Payton and Drew Brees? Competent QB play. Consistent QB play. It's everything. We certainly have the wideouts. Our wide recievers are across the board arguably the most talented we have ever had. If we have a good QB LSU is a one loss team this year. Alabama is ripe for the taking the next couple years, but it won't happen if LSU doesn't have a QB.
That's all. Well, maybe not.
P.S. If we don't develop Brandon Harris, who clearly has the higher ceiling of our two QBs, he will transfer to Auburn. Get it done, Miles.

aint all that but they only have 1 loss and are in much better shape than us. your attempt to spin this situation in a positive way is sickening

Didn't read it all, as a matter of fact I stopped reading when you all but assured that Alabama was assured of winning the game next year vs. LSU. My rebuttal, is how the hell do you know what will happen next year.

Sickening? What?
Yeah, their team aint all that this year, but neither is ours. That's the whole point of my post. We need a QB. If there is any positivity that can be deciphered from my OP, it's that the QB we need is already on our roster. We just have to develop him.
Why shouldn't I try to be positive? Bama fans sure aren't. I'm positive about the future, but only if we play a good QB.
Yeah, they are in a better position than us right now, but do you or anyone else think will beat Miss St next week, Auburn two weeks later, win the SECCG, win the first game in the playoff, then win the National Championship? They would need to go 6-0 to win the Natty from here on out. I honestly don't think a two loss team will be in the final four this year.

If we put the exact team on the field next year we did this year, how likely is it that we beat them next year? Think about it. They are a different team at that stadium. It would take a 2011 effort to come close, and we would probably need even better QB play than that. Hell, they beat us by 21 points last year over there even with the good QB we had.

Yea, for a number of reasons.

We should not be worried about Alabama is doing right now. We got dominated by Miss St and completely bent over by Auburn this year already and the year isn't over. We've got bigger fish to fry than what Bama's lucky arse is doing on our home field

I actually agree with you here. However, I think Mississippi State is to a large extent carried by Dak this year. The players around him at the other positions are no better than ours. I would actually argue ours are noticeably better. I don't see how Dak doesn't win the Heisman if they make the four team playoff this year. I think he is gone after this year to the NFL though, and that team will be back to being a perennial three loss club afterward. I think we can beat them at Davis-Wade next year.
I also took a look at Auburn's depth chart and their recruiting and it looks like their new QB after Marshall may eventually be just as good, but everywhere else their team this year is flooded with juniors and seniors. It depends on how they develop their young players, but Malzhahn can definitely coach.
Plus, we play them in Death Valley next year. If you look at all the games in our rivalry with them, they have not beaten us in Baton Rouge since 1999.
Like I said in my OP, we need to choose the right QB.

This comes every year along with the secret playbook...
I guess we will get it right eventually

Some of you guys know nothing.
With this offense, it doesn't matter who is going to play QB. It will still be a shite show unless Miles has a "come to Jesus" moment and sees the light.
And that's about as likely as me playing football for the Tigers.

quote:Shea Patterson in 2016 and Zadock Dinkelmann in 2018! Judging by the film we've seen of Patterson, he looks a true DT in the Tebow/Manziel category; a great passing QB that has mobility when needed. A must get for LSU.......
