Die-hard liberal admits stance ruining her parenting

SIAP. Some quotes too hilarious to not share.

LINK

quote:

My intentions are good. I want my two daughters, 6, to think critically, to fight for fairness and justice whenever they can. I want them to value equality above all else. But sometimes, I also need them to do what I say. This contradiction is hard to explain.

quote:

One poignant instance illustrates this perfectly. My daughter wanted me to buy her candy but had not behaved well enough to warrant an extra treat.

“Mom,” my daughter said, “people without money need help, and people with money need to help them.”

“Yes, that’s right,” I said.

“Well, I don’t have money, and you do, so you need to help me and buy this.”

A perfectly well-reasoned, thought-out argument.

When the answer was still no, she tantrumed and screamed, and I had to drag her out of the store. She did what I’d taught her; she still didn’t get what she wanted. I didn’t get what I wanted. Everyone was unhappy.

quote:

But for now, I’ve taught the wrong message — that life should be fair and there is no other acceptable option. I did it before the girls had the capacity to understand the meaning of fair. Fair became “what I want right now because I want it.”

I should have stuck to the well-worn, well-tested “life isn’t fair, and I call the shots” route when my girls were babies and toddlers.

Because what isn’t fair is asking children to think and behave like adults before they have the mental ability to do so.

Liberalism ruined my parenting, but I’m slowly getting it back.

Can't believe people are actually raising kids and teaching them that life is fair. I was taught life isn't always fair, and I think I'm happier knowing that reality.

Most people become a tad less liberal when they have kids. Because to be a parent requires hierarchy and submission to authoriy that goes against Liberal ideology of complete equality, fairness, etc.

Just look at what happened to hippies once they had kids in the 80s. They voted in Ronald Reagan.

Liberalism is a disease. It teaches you that everything is equal and you will always be taken care of and valued and important and none of that is true. The truth is that life is often hard and cold and nothing is guaranteed and very little is "fair." It's a nice concept and we should all strive to act justly, but we must do that in a world that is decidedly unjust. And, there is the paradox. Liberals can't live with that. They want utopia and pitch a fit when it isn't handed to them.

The example the mother gave about her daughter wanting her to buy her stuff is actually a pretty good microcosm of the progressive mindset. Very basic, very simple. She goes on to state that children are not capable of adult thought at the end, but the irony of that statement in reference to her philosophy is lost on her.

I was taught by the Ricky Bobby philosophy of "If you ain't first, you're last" and "second place is the first loser"

Sometimes when you win, you really lose... And sometimes when you lose, you really win... And sometimes when you win or lose, you actually tie... And sometimes when you tie, you actually win or lose. Winning or losing is all one organic mechanism, from which one extracts what one needs.

Food for thought...

So basically, Liberalism is great in a fantasy world, but impractical in the real one. Sounds about right!

no. It doesn't. It actually doesnt teach anything at all. Its a word that describes where someone falls on a political spectrum - not a way of teaching. Duh.

But it doesnt matter. Its what you've been told so you believe it. I expect no less from a moron.

I thought my parenting approach would lead to strong, confident girls who are able to assess situations and logically thwart unequal systems. And it probably will, someday.

Life isn't fair. I tell my boys all the time life can't wait to kick you in the nuts and smile at you while you're laying there writhing in pain. Life has NO mercy. Grow a pair and learn how to deal with it and move on.

So you are admitting, that liberalism, in real world practice, is a failure. We agree.

I'm willing to bet that you do not practice what you preach on here. As much as you protest about fairness, how many times have you given to someone simply because you were better off than them? How many times have you willingly donated more of your taxes because you believed the federal government deserves more? When did you give up your own healthcare and sign up for Obamacare? When did you give up all things owned that were oil byproducts?

No, Jesus said give to the poor. Is the author's little girl poor just because she doesn't have money in her pocket at that particular time? No. She is as well-off as her parents.

I don't remember Jesus advocating for more taxes. In fact, Jesus was condemned because of his objection towards the tax collectors.

Jesus never taught to take from others. Jesus taught us, "give a man a fish, feed him for a day, teach a man to fish, feed him for a lifetime."
Jesus taught us give help when needed. When was the last time a liberal has helped another out, of his own free will? Taxing isn't helping someone. Freely giving, aka Charity, is helping. And there are many studies that show that Conservatives are just as, if not more charitable than liberals.
In general, liberals identify more with atheists/agnostics. They do not go to church and donate to the church. We go to church and donate because we know the church will use that money to help the poor, and it will be much more effective than having that money taxed and either lost, stolen, or misappropriated to some liberals pet project. Don't forget that Obamacare lost $300,000,000 with no explanation as to why, and you want to give these clowns more money?

Ah, but there is the answer, YOU do not. You want everyone else, to give the government more money. Because you are delusional to think that if you push for more taxes, that maybe you will be spared from the inevitable of large government. Reality, is that you are the 1st victim of large government. Your ignorance is used to exploit the taxpayers and keep you on the Democrat plantation.

Slavery is the antithesis to a free country, and you more than willing to promote and advocate for it. But you call it by a different name...progressive.
