My daughter left a note for the TF when she was about 7 ... the TF was to circle BOY or GIRL. TF came and went without answering the question.

I would have to say girl because that's the gender they were in every book that I've read or movie I've seen.

Well, there's more than one tooth fairy so I guess it depends on which one has your house in her/his territory, but our tooth fairy is female, even for our son. She leaves gold dollar coins and calligraphied notes, and is the one who gets up just before dawn going "Oh shite! Tooth Fairy has a tooth to retrieve!"

Youngest daughter is watching Tinkerbell right now, and there are boy fairies in it though.

That's what made me question the tooth fairy's gender when I got hit with the query. It hung me up.

My answers to my child were always based on the specific questions that he would ask at that time. I never gave him anymore than that. They'll ask about things like that when it's time.
