Brees is a gun slinger, plain and simple...you have no idea what you get on a weekly basis. It could be a 4 TD game. It could be a 3 INT game. Or it could be be a 4 TD, 3 INT game. He sure does make it entertaining and fun to watch.

Agreed. Going for all of the records damaged him in my opinion. He got too into the big play. He doesn't always make the smart throws anymore. He makes the big throws.

I know Saints fans are getting frustrated by his turnovers lately, but Brees has a long way to go to get on Favres level....not just in number of picks, but also just the head scratching nature of them

Brees isn't throwing balls up for grabs in Levy commercials yet?

He's had the best TD:Int ratio in the NFL on deep balls in the NFL over the last few seasons

Most of his picks are on short throws over the middle

His record years were his best years

Where does my post say deep throw? Down the middle is a dangerous throw. Outside is a safe throw.

Brees being the leagues all-time leader in completion percentage kind of pokes a hole in that theory.

It says big play

That tends to happen down field

All-time leader makes sense, considering how he played up until the last few years, especially considering the whole Top 10 is probably modern era QBs. The game is different.

Brett Favre had 6 seasons where he threw 21+ INTs. Brees has 1. Favre's TD to INT ratio is 1.5 to 1, Brees' is 2 to 1. Brees has a long way to go(down) to approach that level.

This is brought up often, but Steve Young absolutely owned the 90s. Look at his numbers from '91 to '98. I think that argument is overplayed. Then again, Steve Young was always a better QB than Favre, so there's that too.

knee jerk reaction in my opinion.

NFL is so week-to-week.

you wouldn't have made this thread a few weeks ago when the Saints trashed Green Bay on SNF.

also, Favre played a lot of his career when the game was a lot different.

Favre got by with awesome arm strength a lot of the time, Brees has used pin point accuracy as his niche.

its funny how people won't really credit Brees with arm strength and Favre doesn't get credit for being accurate yet he's just got an unbelievable arm instead.

i'm confused already.

Apt description. He should have the good grace to five back some of that new contract money after this shitshow of a season.
