Did Chavis lose the game or keep us in the game?

Chief is a great DC, no doubt. But he has consistently lost us the game at the very end. Bama in 2012 and 2014, Clemson in 2012, and almost against Ole Miss last game. However, he called an incredible game to hold Bama to just 10 points up until the last drive. So if we had a different DC who doesn't blow the lead at the end of the game, would that DC have been good enough to hold Bama to 10 points after 59:57 of play? Are we best off with Chief?

I cannot criticize a defense that holds the opponent to 13 points. Just cannot do it.

His defense is stellar, especially with the hand he has been dealt this year.

He has always had the moniker of bend don't break. LSU has a SEC title because of his philosophy so no one should be surprised by this.

Dude is fantastic, but we have been burned by 80 yard TD drives in the final minute too many times.

In no possible way was that loss on the D

Both. But I argue that our defensive overall did enough to keep us in the game, otherwise we would look like A&M out there (minus their style of offense).

I think several 3 and outs in the 4th quarter. Not sustaining drives were clutch. I think a bad punt and a poor decision by Jennings resulting to a turnover earlier in the game were all factors. But I feel this loss really wasn't on the D as much as it was on the O.

False. His defense has been completely dominant in our great years

Chief is the last one that needs blame. He had his defense prepared and they played their best game of the season.

Definitely kept us in the game. If we let a team score more than 20 points, we will lose because our QB is horrible and when he makes good throws, our wide receivers drop the passes.

the loss was not on the D but when you have an offense that can't score the other team will be in the game until the very end. with his scheme at the end of game, we will lose some games. that is what has happened and he shows no interest in changing it. we need to change the prevent d we play at the end of games.

again, this loss was not on the D.

Do some research on Chavis prevent D's.

He is a great DC and puts together major defenses and has for years. His one knock is, and always has been, bend don't break on last minute drives. 2001 SEC Chanpionship.

I was critical of Chavis earlier in the season but after the Auburn loss he made personnel changes and adjustments that has worked out extremely well for LSU. He knows how to evaluate/devlop talent, and he can game plan well.

IMO missing Robinson at CB hurt LSU. Chavis held Bama to 13 points in regulation play, that deserves kudos.

Chavis kept us in the game.
