I know I know...apple-sheep. It's mainly for my wife but I would also use for video editing. I talked the guy down to $900. Worth it at $900?

Also have another guy wanting to sell me the 21.5" iMac for $600 but it has half the Ram.

UPDATE

Thanks for all the advice and responses. I took your advice and decided not to buy the Mac from the ad.

However, I did just bite the bullet and dropped cash on a new one today. It's for my wife and she loves it. Money well spent.

Did not got with the 5K 27" one though. Went with the Apple® - 27" iMac® - 8GB Memory - 1TB Hard Drive.

I would not buy that with a dual core processor for 900.

A few red flags:

1. He's booted into windows for the pics, but has a snow leopard like background for his windows desktop.

2. Doesn't state what version of OS X is on the machine.

3. I'm pretty sure no iMac has ever been capable of supporting a blu-ray player. I know they never shipped any with blu-ray players.

4. It is absolutely not great for gaming.

ETA: The more I look at it, the more I think it's a 21.5" iMac and not a 27" iMac. the keyboard looks too big in comparison for it to be a 27".

The listing is wrong. The i5-2400 is a quad-core processor. But that's not the reason to not buy it anyway.

My initial thought is absolutely not worth the price, but I know used Macs sell for more than the current market value of the hardware inside it, so taking that into account I have no idea. If colorchangingtiger and other Apple devotees say no, then it's a pretty definitive no.

I think you're right. Also, I just looked up the proper specs of the Mid-2011 models, and the 27" versions have had 1440P screens since late 2009. The listing says 1080P.

I'd question the validity of every spec posted now.

Ask him to hit about this mac and do a screen capture for you to look at.

That'll tell mucho.

Keyboard looks accurate to the 27" I am looking at right now.

Definitely would be 1440p though. Definitely would verify all the specs, but that computer is gonna drag doing anything major. My pretty much same exact one is good for using as a monitor though.
