Places to eat in Baton Rouge?

Believe this is my first post on the F & D Board but I was hoping for some suggestions on where to eat in Baton Rouge. Just wondering if I'm missing out on some "must eat" places. We frequent BR and we tend to go to the same places Sammy's, Chimes, Walk Ons, Boutins. Any suggestions for the ol' lady and I to go to just for some good fun, food and drinks? No steakhouses like Ruth's Chris or Flemings. TIA!

Boutins is the worst restaurant in Baton Rouge. Seriously.
All the places LL said are good. I'll add the Rum House, although they will probably be packed on weekends. And we like DiGiulo Brothers a lot.

Same. Was our first date, actually.
I think their Eggplant Parm is the best. And those Baked Oysters app..

I just don't understand how this place is still open. I mean, locals know that it is a piss poor "cajun" restaurant.
Digiulio Brothers - Italian
Zea
Coffee Call - Beignets (better than du Monde)and good coffee
Almost all of the mediterranean places are excellent - Zorbas, Albasha, Romans, Serops, Akasha, etc.

I went there once. Like most, I was not impressed with the food or service.
The band was pretty cool and watching all the old people dance was fun. It gives one the feel of Acadiana even if it is not authentic.

I think they get a lot of tourists. And there are some people that don't know better. I used to work at a place that would regularly get Boutin's to cater employee meals and host office parties.

Checked out The Rum House menu and it looks like something we would enjoy. It was the New Orleans menu though but I assume the BR menu would be the same.
Also, yeah Boutins is my least favorite place to go but we have some friends that enjoy it for some reason. Maybe it's the Cajun music.

Rum House isn't necessarily great food, but it looks like y'all are after a good atmosphere more than outstanding food.. so it's a good recommendation.

I believe the Rum House menus are the exact same from NOLA to BR.
I think the food there is pretty good. And the Mr. Biggs Taco plate is a good deal. Four little tacos, a meat pie and a side dish for $15. It will fill you up.

I'm not sure if you saw the other thread, but the McRib is back.

I went to Mike Anderson's last night. Best fried shrimp in Baton Rouge. And the stuffed filet was excellent.

Lol. I did see the mcrib thread. Someone posted a link on how the mcrib is made so it made me feel a little better about maybe attempting to eat one in the future. Don't remember the last time I've eaten one but it's been several years and reading an article in the past about the ingredients in the mcrib (flour bleaching agent used in yoga mats) has kept me from eating one again.

Big fan of Pinettas...smaller, intimate setting. Food's pretty good.

We ate at Pinettas last weekend for the first time in a year. I like it well enough, but I got the wrong dish -- eggplant parm that was undercooked. My wife made the right call and got chicken parm, which was really good.
