Real Clear politics has Sullivan ahead by 3.7% with 100% reporting but has not called the race. Can anyone shed some light on this?

They have a large amount of absentee/early voting ballots they haven't counted yet. Have heard it is above 20k votes they have to go through and they tend to be more liberal.

It may be awhile before that one is called, could be days.

Still very low tech elections here. Some of the bush vote takes a while

How long does it normally take to call a statewide election there?

Just giving dems time to find votes under receding glaciers thanks to global warming.

It can take days but they should call it for Sullivan today. Folks aren't at work yet so probably in a couple hours

I read that Sullivan had about an 8k vote lead with the absentee vote not being completely counted yet. Begich is holding out hope because his last race was decided with the absentee count. That being said, he didn't have as high of a hill to climb last time. I think Sullivan holds on to win

I believe that in Alaska you are allowed to count votes that arrive two weeks after the election if they were postmarked on the day of the election.

Makes sense with such remote locations.

The absentee vote is so dominated by Dem.'s unions, teachers, dept. of Ed.,etc, that you can call it for Democrats.
