Has anyone here ever gone the public land route for osceolas? I'm getting my plans together to go down there March 22-26 during Auburn's spring break and am looking for any info I can get. Right now it's looking like I'll be hunting Three Lakes WMA, which is a massive area, and is going to take a significant amount of research to make it a worthwhile trip. I'll be calling the agency over the management of Three Lakes tomorrow. My dad, who will be accompanying me, has killed a couple over the years, but only on private tracts. Any advice is appreciated

There is a guy on here from FL that has the turkey obsession as bad as anyone I've seen. He should have some great info for you.

That seems like an awesome hunt btw

I've not personally hunted Three Lakes, but I've hunted a few other Florida WMA's.

FL's turkey population is really down right now. Two bad years of reproduction in a row and some estimated that the 14' harvest was down almost 50% from 13'. This was the first year I didn't fill my tags in FL since 2008.

I'm actually debating whether or not I want to apply for quota hunts for the coming season as it feels like wasting the preference points I've built.

Scouting is key and the FWC doesn't always make this easy. Some WMA's are closed until the season opens. Be aware that a lot of people come looking for a public land Osceola. It's going to be crowded and theres no way around this.
