Who's bright idea was it to not hold a run-off until after the new Congress has been sworn in?
Wow.
Wow.

Really?
That's fricked. A lot of mud can get thrown in that time!

I guess holding the run off later ensures a lot of outside money will come in to try to turn the election which could decide the party in power.

Looks like we'll get a shitload more commercials if that happens.

Amnesty happens, Nunn may lose by 10% or more.
The president is waiting until the day after the Louisiana runnoff to announce.

Only if control of the Senate somehow comes down to the GA run-off race. Could you imagine the amount of outside money and advertising that will happen?
It would be unbearable.

The Unions and Dem's didn't want a campaign going on during their Christmas holiday time, so they moved it to January. The Teachers Union, state employees, and Dept. of Education all wanted it moved past Christmas.

Wait. I thought UNions and Dems all hated Christmas and Republicans loved Christmas?
What happened?

They do hate Christmas... but they love the paid vacation.

A little recent history regarding the state of Georgia and a runoff election.
Just six years ago, they had one for the Senate seat. It was held on December 2nd, 2008.
Republican Saxby Chambliss defeated Democrat Jim Martin in that runoff.
Here's the kicker:
In the November 4th general election, Chambliss got 49.8% while Martin received 46.8%. (Libertarian Allen Buckley got 3.4%). So, a 3% lead by the Republican going into the runoff.
Four weeks later, Chambliss absolutely destroyed Martin, 57.4% to 42.6% - a 14.8 point win.
The last poll for that runoff was a PPP poll released 2 days before the vote, showing Chambliss up by 7 points, half the total he won by.

What causes a Georgia runoff? I know in other states not called Louisiana that have multiple candidates in the general election due to other parties or independents, who ever has the most votes wins, doesn't matter if they have a majority or not. I remember Rick Perry winning election in 2006 with like 39 percent of the vote in the general election.

No candidate gets over 50 percent of the vote

not only that, but they start handing out committee seats. especially crazy if we are at 49 dems + independents and 50 republicans. party in power getting chairmanships, if still waiting for Georgia, then talk about crazy times in DC

Wouldn't that cause Ga's winner to have less seniority that everyone else in his class? Not too bright.
