I know it sounds idiotic, but I learn so much from you guys on the Money Board about being an accountant. I hope when I get my CPA and some experience I'll be half as talented.

Doing a decent amount of the work myself. I wouldn't say I manage the contractors, mainly just trained them initially. They are all independently licensed and practice how they see fit.

I agree with the poster above. You guys are a great resource and always point me in the right direction. Gonna continue to pay quarterly in January and get with a "real" CPA ASAP once I get W2s and 1099's in.

Make sure you write off everything you can in the LLC. Use your company's 401k or If you think a couple of employees would participant do a 401k for the LLC. You can do both if you really want to defer.

Are you still in school?

So much of this job is learning, especially in tax. I learn something everyday, there are always new issues you see. Also, you learn that no two clients are alike, so no two situations are alike. I tell our younger staff, it's all about having tools in your toolbox, and knowing for each client, which tool to use.

I'm an Auditor with the state right now, but I deal with the odds and ends taxes right now (motor fuels/tobacco)
