I voted this morning. There were binders with all the registered voters in the precinct. I signed in one of the binders next to my name.

How do others do it? If my name was not in there can I vote? I did show an ID but I'm not sure it was simply to make it easier for the lady to find my name.

Do cities just allow anyone to fill ballots without any sort of checking in? Even if they claim to be someone they're not.

I'm sure this is a stupid question.

I think you'd get a "provisional" ballot. IF it were proven that you are actually registered (and name simply missing on the poll list), then yours will count.

That's how Mary got elected in the first place - this kind of turnout in many New Orleans precincts (in which she received every single vote) was the difference - less than 6,000 votes separated them out of almost 1 3/4 million cast - 1/6 of a percentage point.

She may get 110% of the registered voters in some of those precincts in today's election.

If you don't have a picture ID, you have to provide documentation of your name and sign an affidavit verifying your identity.

They don't even try to hide it. Very Soviet like.

More interesting is how a precinct can report 100% of their vote to one candidate. Not one voting error? At all?

It's possible that those precincts haven't updated their voter rolls. For example I moved last year and should be in a different precint but I never went to the circuit clerks office to change my address so I'll just go vote where I used to vote

our precinct has the highest % of turnout in Alabama, but it's never been 100%.

The voter lists are printed immediately after the close of registration for that election. If you haven't registered by the deadline, you can't vote in that election. The registration deadlines are fixed by law and the calendar for each election is available at the Secretary of State's web site.
