Why is it that Jeremy Hill would break a long one damn near every week and LF...

Hasn't really found the daylight as of yet? I mean, I'm not putting down LF in any way. He has a skill set that only a few players have ever had and I know he's as fast if not faster than Hill. However, it just makes wonder why he hasn't broken the long one yet. Once Hill got to the 2nd level, it was pretty much a wrap. I just don't see that with LF yet. Thoughts?

That line last year we had was downright nasty.

Plus we have a new line coach and the line is just starting to gel. Give it time. It will come.

Also, teams couldn't load the box with 8-9 people last year. They had to respect the pass.

Jeremy Hill wasn't even on a football team at LF's age. Maybe give it a little time.

Might have something to do with Mett, Landry, and Beckham (all NFL starters) being on the team and taking defenders away from the running game. I mean probably not, but it's possible. Right?

Jeremy HIll is an all time great. LF is no where near that league yet. When he gets a 100 on an alltime Gump D, then we can start that kinda talking.
Mett threw for 300 yards; Jennings hasnt done that yet why?

LF will go beast mode in the NFL one day too and I understand that, but Hill started doing it mid way through his first year and never stopped. Will it take LF to break a long td run before he finds his nitch?

He's a freshman averaging 5 yards a carry and is on pace for a 1000 yard season. Also, this:

Might have something to do with Mett, Landry, and Beckham (all NFL starters) being on the team and taking defenders away from the running game.

It's a good question in the OP. And it needs to be pointed out that Hill missed an entire season of ball and yet was doing this in '12.

I don't think Jeremy has Leonard's top end speed but he has better vision.

Two key points:
1) Our OL played like garbage until the UF game.
2) LF's vision is getting better - he's simply runing more mature. Enjoy.

I love all of LF's detractors.
He'll break the school freshman APY record this week and he's on pace to break the school freshman rushing yards record, but he's still got detractors.

Some of y'all are ridiculous.

Hill was our best running back in over a decade man.

LF is 18.

Last year Hill had 12 runs of 20+ yards. So far, Fournette has 7 runs of 20+ yards. Hill had 203 attempts last year, too. So far, Fournette has 131 attempts. Fournette won't get to 203 carries this year, I don't think.

Now, Hill did have more runs of 10+ yards than Fournette does this year, and it's not really close (40 to 15).

And, keep in mind that this is Fournette's first year.

its the difference in the passing game...we dont have one this year so they load the box...last year though we had a great passing game threat so the defenses are more honest...one helps the other

Better blocking for Hill?

Speed of game?

Vision?

JH - Had one of the best RS freshman seasons in LSU history with 755 yards rushing with 12 TDs!

LF is a "true freshman" and has 657 yards rushing and 7 TD!

With 3-4 (Bowl game) games remaining LF could get close or surpass those numbers!

Many of Hill's big runs came late in the game when the defenses knew that we weren't going to pass the ball. Hill was very special once he broke into the 2nd level. Safeties and cornerbacks couldn't tackle him in the open field. A combination of speed and balance. Many times the safeties could only get close enough to dive at his legs, and Hill just didn't go down. Did you see his big run yesterday? An NFL safety had the angle, and had Hill pinned on the sideline at about the 20 yard line. He still couldn't get Hill down.

I'm as big of a Fournette fan as there is on this board, but he doesn't compare to Hill as far as big play capability. Not yet, anyway.
