Those calculators are alright but I'm just thinking I need to determine what I could pay monthly while still being able to enjoy myself.

I want a nice house, but don't want to be a slave to it.

Found a house we really really like but we haven't been aggressive enough in saving for a big enough down payment

Not to mention, it's gonna end up costing me money to sell my 6 year old house.

I need to determine how much mortgage I can afford too. This house may be outside my range
What about building?

i was like this in my other house. Glad it's not like that anymore. Makes living a whole lot easier. If my property taxes would quit increasing, it'd be even better

I've considered it

My first concern is selling this dumpster fire of a house I'm currently inhabiting

Owned it for 6 years and will likely end up losing money in it

Is it because of the neighborhood hamstringing your property value? I feel like we've talked about this before.

I just heard on the radio that the Fed is lowering mortgage insurance. My lender gave me a lender paid mortgage insurance loan to where I didn't have to pay it, but it made sense for me because I won't be in this house for 10 years.

I feel like if you built you could control what you spend better, that seems to be your style.

I'd like to buy a lot to pay down now if I were planning to build.

Otherwise I'll just continue to try and save an extra 2k a month or so

I need to cut some things out but I consider too many things as necessities

Well, good luck man. I know you've been wanting to upgrade.

So, opinions...a girl at work, her parents have recently hit some medical problems. Sparing the details, she's had to use all her PTO to help take care of both her parents and try to get them into care facilities until they can get well. She flies from Nola to Dallas...etc, the bills are mounting.

We are doing a donation thing for her at the office to help out. I gave $50. Is that too little?

That's totally up to you. If you feel fine with it, it's enough. If not, give more. Don't be guilted into anything.

Can you donate PTO to her?

Some companies allow that

That may help her as well

I'm sure 50 wasn't the lowest donation

That's about what I donated when a former coworkers house burned down

About two months later, she bought a Mercedes GLK350

stop taking trip all across America and you wouldn't have that problem.

but in all seriousness, $50 is probably more than what some gave

I think if he wouldn't take that recovery day, he'd have plenty to donate.
