NBC @ 2:00CST Pre-race 1:30

Qualifying has Rosberg and Hamilton on the front row with the two "faster" Williams in 3rd and 4th positions.

Field down to 18 cars with 4 more cars threatening to boycot the race.

Who you got?

Lewis was fastest throughout the practice sessions, but Nico pipped him in qualifying.

He's won at Austin before, and I think he does it again today.

Podium: Hamilton, Rosberg, Massa

I'll take it, but I don't see both mercedes finishing. The high speeds and fast corners might be too much on the brakes. Have had trouble in the past with these style tracks.

It's a sport, but they are not athletes.

2 are in administration, basically folding the teams or foreclosure. Marussia and Caterham.

2 other teams are threatening to boycott, Force India and Sauber. Think Lotus was a threat too, but would doubt that.

The sport will go under a huge change in the next 5 years if you asked me. Renault already fricked up the best thing about it with this V6 shite.

Disagree. With the g-forces these cars produce, drivers need to be in excellent shape. Many drivers who were as talented as they come, i.e. Juan Pablo Montoya, were known to have poor diet and preparation and it showed on the track.

Well, they are, but not because of driving race cars.

It's been coming for a long long time. It should have happened after 1997, and it's amazing that it's lasted this long.

I think Ecclestone knows it is over and will bow out so he doesn't have to destroy what made the sport great. Even though he started the downfall.

The sport in general. It reminds me a lot of the MLB, but the small teams don't even make enough to cover expenses.

I know it is north of 120MM just to compete each year. I remember hearing that it takes, on average, about $1B to get the first win from startup.

Good luck Haas.

Just so hard for the little guys to compete out there. I hope the new American team being started by Geen Haas can make it and maybe sign Alex Rossi to drive.

fricking Perez. Gets into the back of Raikkonen, then completely takes out Sutil.
