Can someone tell me the reasoning for it and why we do it?

It's not done everywhere. AZ (except for the Navajo Nation in the northern part of the state) and Hawaii don't here in the US.

For the farmers back in the day

Because it sucks getting dark at 5 in the afternoon. We should have it year round.

Dude, it's for conservation. If we didn't have it, we would have run out of daylight already.
It's America dude, get with it.

Just wanted to point out there is no "s" at the end of saving. Daylight saving time, not "savings."

Frickin Obama said this was his favorite day of the year. Frickin flag day is better than rolling your clock back a hour.

I wish they would split the difference. Set it back 30 minutes and leave it.

Can't they just set it back 10 minutes every month for 6 months, and then 10 minutes forward for the next 6 months?

Wonder if any other states will ever join those that don't.
Here is AZ...it's not needed. Without the time change in the summer months sunrise is around 5 am and sunset between 7-8. In the fall/winter months sunrise is around 6 am and it's usually dark by 6-6:30.
