I know his family history, too. And I believe he would have gone the other way for the money if he had to do it.

I enjoy his show, mind you.

That would be Edd Schultz.

Yep. It's the entertainment business. Play your role to increase your bankroll.

You got that stuff from anti Rush sites. Not from listening. The percentage idea was to allow the GOP to allocate a percentage of the govt revenue on their ideas and let the Dems allocate the rest on their ideas and then see which came out more successful.

This is correct. His idea was to let the two competing ideas battle it out in real life and see which one would be more effective. Obviously, the person you were responding to didn't actually listen.

His brother was a nobody rural Missouri lawyer until he grabbed onto Rush's coattails. He has state/local pols in his family background, but none of them ever made a splash outside Missouri.

Stopped listening to Rush about 15 years ago. Apart from some clever humor segments (the Homeless Update, with Clarence Frogman Henry's "Ain't Got a Home" playing in the background was stellar!), it just got to be the same thing over and over again.

So just tell us why you didn't listen as much as you normally do.

Do you think he actually writes those books? When he talks about writing them he always says "we", as in a group of people writing them of which he is one. I can understand he may be trying, out of graciousness, to include fact checkers and researchers, but his name alone is on the cover and he's written 3 in one year. Writing a book is a lot of work. Writing three in one year would be almost unheard of in literary circles without a ghost writer.

Already explained about infomercials. But, the homeless update reminds me of the first time I discovered the show.

I had researched Mitch Snyder's falsification of Homeless data in the 80s to discredit Ronald Reagan. I knew it was a scam. So, while driving in the car I heard this guy say "And after this break we'll have a Homeless Update."

I thought "What a fricking moron. He doesn't know that homelessness is a scam by Mitch Snyder and a political ruse by the Democrats."

I channel surfed music until I got back to Rush's show and he was saying everything I already knew about Snyder. I was amazed.

For those of you not familiar with Snyder..

He scammed millions of dollars from the federal govt. The media loved him because he blamed Reagan for homelessness that did not exist.

I used to listen to him during the Clinton years. I really don't listen to any talk show hosts anymore, especially not political ones.

Why? Even though I agree with a lot of the ideas of Rush/Hannity/Levin/Berry et al, every single one of them are "everything or nothing" people. If you agree with 99 percent of what they say and disagree with 1 percent of what they say, you might aas well be a commie pinko liberal.

I like to listen to people who have realistic, workable ideas that could actually be put into place by elected politicians. These blowhards live in utopia, whereas I live in reality.

1. These are children's books. How much work does it take?

2. He didn't start writing them until he married his current wife and he admitted it was her idea. I'm betting that she writes the books.

He talks touch much about his books. He is not the same guy anymore. I think he is bored with the show these days.

I understand your position. But I'm not in it. I'm far more extreme than Rush. So, I'm not interested in compromise or moderation. I think govt burocracy should be ripped out by the root and destroyed.

Rush is far too left wing by my ideology.

Earlier this week, a caller was gushing about the books and how much his granddaughter enjoyed them. More than once, he mentioned how his granddaughter was afraid that Rush wouldn't call them back so she was excited he called her. I think many of the book calls are staged and are basically commercials.

On today's show, he was talking about how diverse Louisiana politicians have been (Jindal, Blanco, Mary, etc.) and said that New Orleans hasn't had a white mayor in a long time. Oooops!

I truly believe that he would be the biggest liberal talk show host on earth if that's where the political talk money was to be made. Look up his background. He is a promotions and marketing guy. He found his cash cow.

He as admitted this on his show and in
interviews repeatedly, Why would anyone think Rush or any other similar personality would be doing what they do for some altruistic
purpose?

"I’m a businessman," he told The New York Times. "My first goal is to attract the largest possible audience so I can charge confiscatory ad rates. I happen to have great entertainment skills, but that enables me to sell airtime.”

Who said anything about altruism? he is doing this because he loves it and he makes good money doing it.

If he didn't love it, he would not be effective or successful..

Those of you who think he could turn his talents toward socialism or racism (i.e. become a DEM) are silly. He might could play the part for a year, but there is no way he could maintain that level of energy and dedication for a quarter century.

He believes what he says, he is good at what he does, and he loves doing it.

As someone else already pointed out, he is not so much a GOP as he is a conservative. He routinely attacks namby-pamby GOPers.

I truly believe if there was a conservative DEM, that Rush would support him also.

We'll never know the answer to that one - there are no conservative DEMs.

I agree, and listen regularly, my point was that he his never tried to hide the fact that his first priority is to make money for the advertisers without which he would not be on the air.
