Well our personnel are vastly different and we have a new and experienced assistant coach. There will be a different approach accordingly.

Lose to West Virginia and one decent team, solid OOC record
a game over .500 in conference, including 2 signature wins
that should be enough to make the tournament. I'll be pleased with that, and a win would be huge for the recruiting trail. Jones' coaching ability should be put into question if we go into the NIT. This is mostly his team now, and he has great bench coaching. I understand we're thin at the 5, but we're pretty damn good everywhere else.
I am trying to look at it like Arkansas is with Anderson. They've been patient for three seasons, but it is his official "shite or get off the pot" season

SEC champs & elite 8
will be disappointed with anything outside of top 3 in the sec and appearance in round of 32
this team has the perfect makeup to make a deep run.

I sat through every home game last year. I saw teams half as talented run them over
this team was not that talented last year. they weren't deep and had short guards who couldn't protect the perimeter. Mickey was a bad on-ball defender and Martin was lost for the first 1/3 of the season. So you are way off here
this team is more talented, a tad bit deeper, and more complete.

The offense for that matter too can't seem to hit anything on the perimeter.
stringer and coleman say hi. but i get your point last year did leave a lot to be desired.

Sure it does if I believe it's coaching/approach.
last time i checked coaches dont shoot threes and we also added 2 guards that can make it rain. hopefully Martin has improved in this aspect as well.

Break even SEC. People always over expect things from basketball. The 1/4 that actually show up anyway.
Johnny Jones may be getting better players (....to be determined actually. We haven't won anything yet) but he still struggles with in-game adjustments and the defense is horrible. They rarely put together a compelte game. The offense for that matter too can't seem to hit anything on the perimeter.
Last year was dissapointing. PERIOD. Not because LSU finished .500 in SEC play, but because they finished .500 in a very weak conference. They had one of the top frontcourts in the league, and while the guards were short, the defensive lapses came from the forwards. LSU couldn't defend the screen all year long.
All that said, it's not unreasonable to expect 12 wins in what looks to be another weak SEC (1 great team - UK; one really good team - UF; and 3 or 4 teams that could be good, one of which being LSU)
I fully expect Mickey and Martin to be better on both sides of the ball. The backcourt certainly looks like it should be at least "solid".
The OOC schedule is terrible. They have to get at least 10 wins. 12 wins in the SEC puts them at 22-9. Depending on just how weak the conf. is, that should give them a chance at a NCAAT bid.

If they go 10-8 in SEC play then that 10 better include some combination of (multiple) wins against UK, UF, Ark., Bama, UGA. The did themselves no favors with the OOC schedule.

I think the hiring of Eric Musselman to the coaching staff is the key. This team needed an "X and O" coach.
I agree with this!
Also, gone are the brick shooters. Replacements like Hornsby, Patterson, Gray, and Epps all can shoot the three, especially Hornsby. They all can drive the basket as well. Patterson and Gray are not super tall but both are over 6'. If Quarterman has improved his outside shot, look out!
Under the basket, you will see Martin explode, Mickey will have a year more experience, and Robinson III at 7'1" tall with shot blocking skills and a soft shooting touch will be a difference maker.
Depth is fair, but not deep. Free throw shooting accuracy will improve probably 10% from last year. The team will be rangy, athletic, and aggressive.
If they can play injury free, this team has a very high upside. I see them finishing possibly as high as 3rd in the SEC behind Ky and Fla. They will make the tourney and get to the 3rd round. They will be one of the surprise teams in the country!

It's a different team just because we don't have to throw it in to JOBIII every posession. Last year our offense was to stagnant everybody look at JOBIII work the post it was no movement. Well this year we have options so we should get it done.

Are you referring to Stringer and Hickey, LSU's all time leaders in three pointers? I would hardly call them "brick shooters"

This and the talent coming back are why they go to the tourny this season

it's not the NBA. You don't need much depth to have a good college team

bullshite. Where are you getting this information. There is no way in hell Bo Spencer is number 5 all time in LSU basketball in any category.
