What else is there to say? Because a whole bunch of years went by, it should be forgotten since he directed some great movies?

That he plead guilty as a part of a plea bargain that the Prosecutor and Judge agreed to and then after he plead guilty and served his sentence as ordered, the Judge reneged on the agreement?

The guy is scum but he wasn't given the opportunity for a fair trial and sentencing.

I'm not talking about the getting him back in jail as much as should people just forget what he actually did because he directed movies?

The justice system is screwed, we know that and so I guess I can understand him running. But so many Hollywood people come to his defense like it's ok that he raped a 13 yo because the judge was screwy.

The judge has a right to change his mind based new evidence and/or changes in the case (new details, etc.). Based on the details, he deserved more than the plea bargain. If the plea bargain would've gone through, that would've been unfair.

He did not serve his time. He agreed to 90 days of evaluation BEFORE sentencing. Prior to that, his attorney believed the prosecution and judge would agree to probation at sentencing. He caught wind that the judge changed his mind so he fled.

Until sentencing, nothing is set in stone. Judges also don't have to agree with the prosecutions leanings.

Polanski drugged and raped a 13 year old. He should have rotted in jail.

Totally agree, and I despise those who defend him as much as I despise him.

I don't understand why someone doesn't hunt him down and kill him.

I would but I'm kinda busy.

Just to be clear, you're okay with judges making promises to defendants in order to get a guilty plea, and then reneging on those promises.

No new details. The judge was told that public perception would be against him, so he reneged on the deal.

Yes, if new details emerge. Or if the defendant is not completely upfront.

There was no guilty plea if there was no deal. So technically he never pled guilty.

Eta, if he does plead guilty, there is no guarantee of sentencing. It's a risk he took.

Just so we're clear, no. Just so we're clear, that doesn't mean he's not a great director. Just so we're clear, Chinatown is a masterpiece.

Bitter Moon is an awesome movie.

Hollywood is full of fricked up people who do take advantage of young people. Polanksi just gets the spotlight because the other stuff is buried.

Didn't Kirk Douglas rape and beat Natalie Wood?

I love Chinatown as much as the next guy, but this. He raped a 13-year old. Let that sink in. Making good movies does not make up for that.

He wasn't screwed by the system, he was lucky to get the deal he got. Seriously, it's difficult to imagine a celebrity I find more personally repulsive. I find the campaign to get him to evade justice to be sickening and affront to human decency.

Whoopi Goldberg says it wasn't "rape rape". Whatever that may mean to that twisted bitch.
