Can't teach religion in public schools, unless it's Islam.

WTF is the love affair that libs have with Islam?
quote:

A Marine Corps father has been banned from his daughter’s school after he complained about her homework assignment on Islam.

Kevin Wood said his 11th grade daughter was asked to write a three-page essay about Islam’s five pillars, Mecca and Mohammed at La Plata High School in Maryland.

He argued that students can’t study Christianity in schools “but we can force-feed our kids Islam.”

1) religion has no place in public schools

2) he must have done more than just complain to get banned, if not he needs to hire an attorney.

But this story right here is exactly what needs to be pointed to when Christians start complaining about not having their beliefs present in public schools.

If Martin Luther and Henry VIII are scratched from the curriculum, then there's a point, but academic material about the structure of a religion is just not a problem.

If you are not teaching about religion (all) you are not teaching history of the human race. Period.

Unfortunately you're right, so many wars and so much bloodshed throughout history in the name of religion.

She should include a blurb in her essay about how Islam's five pillars may be ignored during jihad.

This. Or how the taqiyya principle is unique to Islam

It's not Islam. It's anyone who is anti-American. Just like the brutal communist regimes from the 50's and 60's, there is literally nothing more provocative and appealing to liberals than hatred for the US.

The whole notion that they respect freedom and individual rights is a farce as none of these things have ever mattered unless they could be used against a political opponent. The bimbo squad during the Clinton years settle that matter once and for all.

I can't say I have a problem with this. We are getting a little carried away with this whole "no religion in schools" thing.

Religion is an extremely critical facet of human history, and the understanding of a lot of historical occurrences would be lost without religious context. Prohibition in the U.S., for example, would not make a whole lot of sense unless you understood the 2nd Great Awakening, the temperance movement and it's protestant Christian roots.

I attended a Catholic school and we learned about Islam and it's five pillars.

Yes, I know, it was a private school, but my point is that even at a school where students are allegedly being "force-fed" Catholicism, we were still "force-fed" Islam.

That being said, I will say that assigning a 3-page paper on the 5 pillars of Islam is a little...interesting. Just my opinion, but that seems equivalent to assigning a 3-page paper about the Holy Trinity.

Enlightening? Perhaps.

Most necessary subject matter for a public school teacher to have students spend time writing a 3-page paper on? Debatable.

I wish I could write this essay for her. 3 pages of how Islam's five pillars, Mecca, and Mohammad mean something completely different to me, as a Kafir, than they do to "believers" as was laid out by Mohammad in the Sira and Hadith.

The whole duality of Islam... one set of rules for infidels and another set of rules for Muslims.

If its a history or humanities class then I can see why they would have an assignment on Islam or any other religion giving options.

But to force feed shite is more along the lines of a college religion class.

I'm a huge follower of Christ but I don't want schools teaching my kids about it or any other religion.

They can't even get history and science right so the damn sure won't get theology right.

Yep, they had to sucker the religious folks into fighting their wars.

However, Hitler, Stalin, and Pol Pot didn't need reiligeon to spill blood.
