DCers on the Food Board...Opinions on best BBQ in the city

Not sure how many DC residents frequent this board, but I've lived in the city for a decade now and have never found an exceptional BBQ place. There are more options now than ever, and some are "good" to "very good", but I've never found anything that really stands out.
Of the places worth mentioning, I've tried Acre 21, Kangaroo Boxing Club, and the Union, which are all pretty decent. I've tried others as well and I can't adequately describe how awful Hill Country and Rocklands can be.
Just curious if there are any other suggestions out there. Planning to try Smoke and Barrel and Fat Pete's soon as I've heard they're better than most. Have a craving and don't want to deal with the loads of crap we have here, so appreciate any input.

Freddy's BBQ joint isn't a real place?
